Step 1: Download Version 12.0.1
NOTE: We always recommend making a backup of your users and settings from the Cerberus Tools menu before upgrading. Select the Backup Users and Settings option to create a zip file of all of your Cerberus settings and users.
- Select the Help menu option from the main menu.
- Select the Check For Update menu option.
- You will see the Upgrade Check dialog. It will list the current version installed, including whether you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version installed and any available updates.
- If you see 12.0.1 as the Latest Version, the Update button will be enabled and a list of changes since your current version was released will show in the release notes list box.
- Press the Update button to automatically download the latest release and start the update process.
- Once the download has been completed the Cerberus UI will close and shut down and the installer will automatically launch. You should select the default options for any questions in the installer. The installer will automatically remove your existing installation (users and settings are not removed during an uninstall) and then install the latest release.
- Finish the installation. The latest version of Cerberus FTP Server should be installed and running.
After the update is complete, open the Cerberus GUI and confirm it shows 12.0.1 as the ‘Current’ release under ‘Vulnerability Assessment’ and then close the interface using File > Exit.
Step 2: Rename User_Shared_Files_2.0.xml
1. Open services.msc and locate the Cerberus FTP Server service. Select it, right-click and then choose ‘Stop’.
2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Cerberus LLC\Cerberus FTP Server (ProgramData may be hidden) to find user_shared_files_2.0.xml
3. You will now rename that file. Right-click on the file and choose ‘Rename’. We recommend that you rename the file by removing the .XML extension and replacing it with .BAK so it looks like this: ‘user_shared_files_2.0.BAK
4. After you have renamed the file, restart the Cerberus FTP Server service.
