Is Upgrading Important?
Featured“Another update” you may ask yourself as you read the latest Cerberus newsletter.
“Everything is working great, I will get around to upgrading later” something we have all said when our software is asking us to upgrade to the latest version.
The point of this post today is to tell you why keeping Cerberus FTP Server up to date is very important between major breaches like Capital One and Equifax. You hear in the news almost every day about some new cyberattack or data breach that compromises millions of people's personal information. Many of these attacks could have been prevented by simply updating their software to the latest release.
The longer a piece of software is out, the longer hackers have to find bugs and issues to exploit.
We want to make sure you are protected against any security vulnerabilities.
You should always be running the latest version of Cerberus FTP Server.
A few key reasons why you should keep Cerberus updated.
Security Vulnerabilities
Our updates are intended to keep you safe from known security holes. Not running the latest version of Cerberus FTP Server leaves your server open to compromise.
New Features
In addition to security fixes, our updates also can include new or enhanced features.
Our product team is continuously developing new features and enhancing old ones to make your experience with Cerberus better with every release. You'll find that the software will improve with each update we put out.
Support
We only officially support the latest version of a major release, and all of our testing and advice will be based on the latest version. If you are running Cerberus FTP Server version 9 or lower it is not supported and we no longer provide security updates or bug fixes.
It’s easy to skip a software update but why risk making a large mistake that could leave the door open for hackers putting your data at risk. If you need help upgrading to the latest version of Cerberus FTP Server, please contact our support team
