    Hello, Eddie.

What do you see when you go Click on User Manager>Public Shares?

    Hi Dana,

Thanks, I can see that now <DOH>!

May I ask seeing as I have your ear why the mods to log4j.xml and log4j_ui.xml are not done as part of the upgrade and have to be done manually?

    Hi Eddie,

We are still considering attempting to perform the upgrades automatically in some cases, but it's very difficult to reliably make those modifications to any log4j.xml files that have been changed/customized by an administrator.

It's relatively safe for us to replace the older log4j.xml files if they've never been customized by an administrator.

However, there's a risk that we won't be able to correctly modify a customized log4j.xml file, and we decided that it was better to leave that new functionality disabled for customers that are upgrading, rather than risk making an automatic change to their logging configuration that could completely break logging.  In the worst case, an automatic XML change could render the log4j.xml file invalid and completely disable all logging.  We didn't want to take that chance.

We are considering an automatic upgrade in cases when we know the adminstrator is still running the old, stock log4j.xml files. We're also working on putting out a new minor release that shows a popup notification to inform administrators of the change when they first start Cerberus after an upgrade from a version older than 11.0.
