Zip Password Option or other Encryption Options

One thing we are dealing with when we are using the HTTPS\HTTP functionality is the lack of controls around encrypting data at rest. It would be great if upon upload\download or built in to zip or unzip you could encrypt files or folders. Has anyone else asked for this or is there a recommended solution?
