Hi,
we have several CerberusFTP servers where the update went through without issues but one server had the same "4154 Edge Update prerequisite" error as mentioned in this post.
Is there any solution available for this yet?0 -
Hi Cerberus
I have same issue installing Cerberus 2025.2.
Is there a solution for that.
Best regards

Here is the answer from Cerberus Support i received after opening a ticket with them:
Thank you for contacting Cerberus support.
Sorry, you're having trouble with your upgrade.
That error is caused by a failure to install Edge. The Cerberus desktop user interface now uses a Chrome platform to improve UI speed and experience. Instead of Internet Explorer, it renders the UI pages using Microsoft WebView2.This is a Microsoft Edge (Chromium) platform that allows developers to bring web experiences into native apps. Cerberus has moved to this platform to display desktop user interface pages instead of relying on Internet Explorer. This is to modernize the Cerberus user interface and also improve performance.
While it is NOT required as the Cerberus user interface will continue to use Internet Explorer if you don't install WebView2, we recommend WebView2 as it significantly improves UI performance and also many server administrators are moving to uninstall IE because it is obsolete.
The installer will attempt to download and install this platform if it detects it is not installed, this is why you got the error. To reduce the possibility of an issue when updating, it is possible to do a manual install of WebView2 BEFORE updating Cerberus. That way Cerberus won't try to install it when you update.
Here is the Microsoft page describing WebView2 which also has install links.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/
It is recommended that you use the 'x64' link in the 'Evergreen Standalone Installer'. Optionally you can download the 'Evergreen Bootstrapper' which is a tiny installer that downloads the Evergreen Runtime matching device architecture and installs it locally.
This should resolve the issue!
If you have any other questions regarding this request, please don't hesitate to contact me back; the ticket will be reopened since I'll have it placed in a closed state.Best regards,
