Updating to 2026.1 gives an error "Service 'Cerberus FTP Server' (Cerberus FTP Server) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

If you are facing an issue when updating to Cerberus FTP Server 2026.1, please follow these instructions.

• Once the upgrade fails, restart the server when possible.
• If it's failed, the service (Cerberus FTP Server service) should have been removed from services.msc. Please confirm if the service is still present.
• If the service is still there, and you cannot stop or delete it, please run a command prompt with administrative privileges and enter the following command sc delete "Cerberus FTP Server"
  Return to services.msc panel, and confirm that the Cerberus FTP Server service is gone.
   
• Now, navigate and download the MS redistributable found here: https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x64.exe
• Once this has downloaded, and been installed, retry the upgrade to 2026..1
